Her Story

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course. I have kept the faith: Henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness. Which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me on that day … And not to me only, but unto them also that love his appearing.

II Timothy 4:7-8

Adrianna Marinita Moore, affectionately known as "Dri", was a beloved daughter, sister, cousin, granddaughter, niece, goddaughter, co-worker, and friend. Born February 17, 1988, in Walpole, Massachusetts, Adrianna was the only child of the late Stephen Elliott "House" Moore, former Offensive Lineman for the New England Patriots. She graduated with honors from Germantown High School with the class of 2006. Adrianna began her collegiate career at Spelman College and completed her education at the University of Memphis, where she attained two degrees: Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Bachelor of Science in Sociology.

Simultaneously, while in pursuit of her degrees, at the age of 19, Adrianna began her service to Memphis Parks as a Day Camp Aide for Summer Camp at the historic Orange Mound Community Center, under the leadership of her mentor Kristine Strickland. From there, her journey was one of a continuous progression upward that spanned a course of 15 years: Recreation Leader, Assistant Director, Director, Recreation Program Manager, Community Engagement Administrator, and most recently Deputy Director.

Adrianna's greatest commitment and love were to her family, friends, and Memphis Parks. And her passion for the latter was reflected in her ability to pour into her community, from spearheading and launching her million-dollar literacy program to playing a vital role in the rebranding of Memphis Parks from Parks and Neighborhoods. Her love for her community and those she served was unmatched, as demonstrated by her ability to build partnerships with various prominent organizations throughout the Greater Memphis area. Adrianna believed there was no room for half-stepping, because the youth of Memphis – our future – deserved her best. Her understanding of the roles within Memphis Parks better prepared her to be the leader she became, while her understanding of the people within each community enabled her to be a voice for them. Her love forever remained for the people – all people. Adrianna made sure every voice was heard, every opinion valued, and every problem resolved by working together with those she served.

Adrianna peacefully made her transition to eternal life on October 20, 2024, leaving an indelible impression on all our lives. She leaves to cherish her memories: her mother Andrea Earthman (Moore-Bailey) Lathan, father James Lathan, brother Raphael Armon, Grandmother Annie Earthman and Great Aunt Margaret Smith. She also leaves her beloved sister-cousins Arielle Earthman and Marchelle Meadows, her Godsons Ayden "Bookie" Earthman and JaRell Blackburn, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Her fur-babies, King Louie Farrakhan and Foxxi Lady Moore will sorely miss her presence.

Adrianna was preceded in death by: maternal grandfather Andrew Earthman, paternal grandfather Elmer Moore, Sr., paternal grandmother Erma Moore, and cousin Margralita Smith.
