Cecile Marie Rogers Mitchell was born January 13, 1941, in Woodstock, Tennessee
to Charlie "Jack" Rogers and Susie Mae Smith Rogers. She gained her wings on
Thursday, December 11, 2025. She was the fifth of eight children born to this union.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband: Alonzo "Biggie/Mitch" Mitchell,
both her parents, and her loving siblings: Charlie Mae Reed, Jackie Ray Rogers,
Bobbie Jean Carpenter, Gertrude Wright and Jessie Lee Rogers.
She attended Woodstock High School, Millington TN and graduated in 1958. She
furthered her education at Tennessee State University and LeMoyne-Owen College.
She worked tirelessly for Methodist University Hospital as an administrative assistant
for 35 years until her retirement.
She was united in holy matrimony February 1969 to Alonzo "Biggie/Mitch" Mitchell
for forty-one years and they lived a joyful life together. She served as a very supportive
aunt to numerous nieces and nephews, and care giver to her siblings. Her family and
friends enjoyed her compassion for happiness and enjoying life to its fullness. Anyone
who knew Cecile knew her adornment for her Dallas Cowboys team.
She grew up in Campbell Chapel AME Church and attended Morning View
Baptist Church in her earlier adult life, and she later joined and was an
active longtime member of Fellowship United Baptist Church.
She was a member of various masonic organizations until her
death. She was a lifetime member of Eureka Chapter #241 and
Moolah Court #22. She developed many long-term friends from her
association in her various masonic affiliations.
She is survived by two loving siblings: Loyce Laverne Rogers
Williams and Shirley Ann Rogers Hill and three sisters-in-
laws: Nellie Pearl Rogers, Barbara (Fred) Day and Denise
(Arthur) Smith and a host of nieces and nephews, a God
granddaughter, Tristan Rogers, a bonus son and
nephew, Othieus Wright. She will be greatly
missed by her family, friends and countless
others that knew her.
