Jesse Mckay
Rembert
d. Mar 20, 2024
Jesse McKay Rembert was born in Germantown Tennessee on May 2, 1948, to the late Jesse Lee and Ida Mary Rambert.
He accepted Christ at an early age and attended Mount Pisgah School. Jesse enlisted in the U.S. Army in June 1966 where he served his country proudly in the Vietnam war and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service medal with Bronze Service Star. He completed his military service in the US Army reserve and received an honorary discharge in 1972. Following his distinguished military service, he joined the US Postal Service and served 35 years before retiring in 2004 citing "his daughter said he could retire"!!!! During his tenure with the USPS, he served as a Letter Carrier, Supervisor, Union steward and National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) Union Representative. Jesse was a beloved letter carrier and was known on EVERY route.
In March 1969, just prior to Easter, Jesse met and pursued the love of his life, Dianne Lynn Watson and they were united in holy matrimony on September 19, 1972. Born of that union were 3 daughters: Carla, Deena and Vicky. Jesse had two daughters prior to this marriage - Alicia & India:
Jesse LOVED all of his family and was considered a matriarch as the oldest boy and second eldest child. He was the only "REMBERT" in the "RAMBERT" clan thanks to a misspelling on his birth certificate that was enforced by the military as they did not play about using your exact government name!
Known as a firm disciplinarian to everybody's child, all the neighborhood kids knew not to "cross" Mr. Jesse and never ever walk on his lawn which was always immaculately maintained or play two square in front of his house at the risk of breaking a window. He was known as "Daddy". "J.R.", "Pops", "Granddad", "Big Jesse" and "Nooni". His pride and joy were his family and moreover his five girls. Daddy never wanted to miss an event so could always be counted upon to get on the road, dance the night away and crack a few jokes along the way!
He gained his heavenly wings on the morning of March 20, 2024, in his home with his wife and five girls in the midst. He was preceded in death by his parents Jesse and Ida Mary Rambert, three sisters - Yvette Rambert. Betty Jean Jackson and Debra Douglas, one brother, Clifton T. Rambert and his bonus son, Darrell K. Miller.
He leaves to cherish his love and memories a devoted wife; Dianne Rembert of fifty-two years; five daughters Alicia Rembert, Carla Parris (Edvardo), India Alexander (Reginald) and Vicky Wellington (Nate) of Memphis, Tn and Deena Rembert of Dallas, Tx; Two brothers George Rambert (Dutch) of Poplar Bluff, MO., and Henry "Marty" Rambert (Flo) of Star City, AR.; One sister Bertina Ayers of Memphis, Tn.; One sister-in-law Phyllis Rambert of Deerfield Beach, Fl., Ten grandchildren, eleven great grand-children and a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
