Latoya Monique
Love
d. Jul 3, 2025
In Loving Memory of
"Latoya Monique Love"
Born September 7, 1976, in New Orleans, Louisiana, she was a shy but loving baby and young girl. She confessed her belief in God at an early age
and acknowledged that God had the final say in her health crisis. She served our Heavenly Father until her death. Latoya attended St. Phillip
Elementary School, Fannie C. Williams Middle School, St. Mary's Academy and Seaton Academy. She was active in the drama club, 4H club, and the math club.
Latoya played volleyball, softball, ran track, was a cheerleader, and a student of Tae Kwon Do, earning her green belt. Latoya worked as a CNA,
she worked for the McDonalds corporation and later Wal-Mart. Latoya was an active member of Mt. Kingdom B.C., shadowing her grandmother
Mrs. Estell Gibbs, she was active in the Youth Department, under the guidance of Rev. Otha Simmons.
As a young adult she attended and was active at Greater St. Stephens B.C. under the guidance of Bishop Paul S. Morton. Latoya moved to
Memphis, TN where she started designing clothing, specializing in T-Shirts. She and her friend Robert Mays opened a Fire Works stand in
Memphis. During Covid 19, she became sick with covid, which exposed a heart defect. Covid weakened her heart further. After more damage to her
heart, it was functioning at 20% which qualified her to be entered onto a heart transplant list. Unfortunately, her heart was too weak to withstand the
wait.
Latoya is the Daughter of the Late Author Jr. and Pearla Gibbs, the Sister of Avery E. Gibbs, Mother of Allayjah Meredith, Hydia Sophia Broussard,
and Charles Hunter. The granddaughter of the late Joseph Sr. and Sophia Emery Washington, the late Estelle D. Gibbs. The niece of the late Louis
and Yvonne Washington, William and Carolyn W. Briscoe, Joseph Jr. and Tonya Washington, Gelvely and Ann W. Stewart, Consuela Mays, the late
Sharon Gibbs, the late Kay Gibbs, Cleveland and Hidi Gibbs, Albert W. and Josette Gibbs, and Carol Gibbs, the God Child of the late Noel Rives
Sr. and Cynthia Nicks.
Latoya leaves behind a host of cousins, friends and loved ones who will miss her presence but will continue to love her in spirit.
