Mary Louise Lewis Hilliard was born November 14, 1930 in Oxford, Mississippi to the late Thomas and Lillie Phillips Lewis.   She professed a hope in Christ at an early age and attended Tobby Tubby Missionary Baptist Church in Oxford, Mississippi.

She married Vernon Hilliard Sr. more than seven decades ago and they were blessed with three children - Minnie, Vernon Jr. and Christoper.

Mary Hilliard joined King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church and remained a member until her passing.   She enjoyed singing in the choir and was a member of the Mother Board.  She was elegant in every way and was deemed "Queen" within King Solomon.

Mary loved spending time with family and friends and she showed love through cooking (especially her legendary pound cake), sewing and the cherished family reunions that she helped organize.  She was also a member of the Ruth E. Tate Senior Center where she enjoyed socializing with church members and friends.

She leaves to cherish her memory: one daughter Minnie Johnson (Melvin); two sons - Vernon Hilliard, Jr. (Patricia) and Christopher Hilliard (Tanya); nine grandchildren - Vernon Hilliard III (Kimberly), Melvin Johnson III, Tammie Hilliard, Candace Thomas, Andre Hilliard (Adrienne), Marcellus Hilliard Sr., Nicholas Hilliard, Brandon Strong, and Avery Hilliard; nineteen great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Mary Louise Lewis Hilliard was preceded in death by her husband: Vernon Hilliard Sr. and her brother, Albert T. Lewis.
